Where has the summer gone???, and can anybody say procrastination

Well, it sure has flown by for us.  I have just not kept  up with this blog.  I have a hundred excuses but lets just call it what it is, procrastination.

We have not really been site seeing much, but we have been looking at property.  Yes that is right, we have been looking at property, and we have actually bought a piece.  It is so pretty and is on top of a mountain.  The place is called Arrowhead Ranch, and the website for it is:  http://arrowhead1.org/

It is a really unique place in that; all the plots are circular and no one property touches another, and they are all one acre pieces.  We butt up to BLM, (Bureau of Land Management), and National Forrest property.  Our property is still pretty well covered with trees.  We are having the electric run and the telephone line put in.  We also had a shed built.  The water was already there and the septic too.  Maybe if we decide, we might build, but for now we will just use it for the RV.  It is really pretty and really has kept us busy.  We have been tent camping on it for now, but next summer I think that we might get the RV up there.

Well  a run down on the rest of the summer...we have had a blast.  We have worked with some really great people this summer and miss them, Ed and Sue you have really missed a beautiful fall.  The park has been busy, I mean busy.  I was shocked as to how many people camp, (tent camp), in the fall.  October has been full every weekend, and this last weekend is not full, but we still have campers and it has already snowed.  Well not here in the park but up in the high country and of course the ski resorts are loving it.

I need to back up a bit as we had a busy summer too.  Chris and her roommate came out to visit us and we went to visit them too.  They where here the first weekend in Sept and we went to their house the last weekend of Sept.  We also made a run back over to Rocky Mountain NP, so we could hear the Elk bugle, what a sound.  And in between all this we have made several runs up to the property too. Actually we have probably spent most of our time off at the property.

We have seen a lot of wildlife right here in the park....there has been a clutch of Great Horned Owls, there has been a clutch of Cooper's Hawks, Humming birds and deer, and now we are getting the migratory birds.  Not that I know who is just passing through or not.  The parks interpreter, Alexis,  has moved away and I miss her...she really did a great job.  I have also seen my first Bald Eagle.  We also have a bunch of cats running the park now.  I believe that they come from the farm across the street.  There sure is a lot of them and they drive the girls nuts.  We have made friends with the farmer that works a field right next to the park and he has shared his crops with us...we have had the best sweet corn and turnips, beats and potatoes.  Sam has been an inspiration.  I am not sure how old he is, but he works his field all by his self.

With all the buying of property and things that we have done to the property so far; we have made some changes to our plans this winter.  We plan to stay here in the park thru the end of November and then make our way home to Georgia.  We will winter in Georgia this year.  Then not sure when, but we will be coming back to Highline SP and work here thru the summer and play on the property on our days off.

Sounds like a plan, but who knows with us.  We are enjoying ourselves and really feel blessed.  We have a golden opportunity to go and see and do pretty much what we want and our health is good.

I have pictures but I am going to load them all up in the picasa web album.  That is because I have put it off for so long that there is no way that I could put them all in this blog.  I will do better, hopefully.  So please look at the album and check out the video of the Elk.

Until the next time, which will not be as long, all is well with us and the girls.
